Afghanistan: 46 terrorists killed in different parts of country in past 24 hours

Kabul: At least 46 terrorists have been killed by security forces in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours, officials said.

A statement issued by the country's Ministry of Defence said: "In the past 24 hours, on the receipt of intelligence tips, Afghan National Defense and Security Forces launched 5 clearing operations and 98 Special Forces tasks in different parts of the country in order to remove security threats and ensure security."

"Afghan Air Forces also conducted 75 flights supporting Afghan National Army and carried out 6 airstrike on enemies’ positions. As a result, 46 insurgents were killed, 10 were wounded and 3 suspects were arrested," it said.

The operation was conducted by the Afghan National Army Forces in Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktika, Kandahar, Oruzgan and Helmand provinces.

In these operations, 18 ISIS affiliates were killed and a base was destroyed in Naziyan and Dehbala districts of  Nangarhar. 14 insurgents were killed and 2 others were wounded in Khas Oruzgan district and Oruzgan capital. 6 insurgents were killed, 3 were wounded and 3 suspects were arrested in Nad Ali district of Helmand. A motorcycle, 700 kilograms of explosives and a hideout destroyed as well, read the statement.

Similarly, 3 insurgents were killed and 5 others were wounded in Maiwand district of Kandahar. 3 insurgents were killed in Paktia capital and 2 others were killed in Gero district of Ghazni.
