A King County Metro bus crashed into a building at Fifth Avenue and Battery Street in Seattle’s Belltown neighbourhood on Saturday (November 4, 2023) which left at least one person dead.
A woman was killed in the incident, Seattle Police Department said.
"Officers arrived around 3:30 p.m. and found the Metro Bus had crashed into a building along with a red sedan. The male driver of the sedan was extricated out of the vehicle by Seattle Fire. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition," police said in a statement.
"It was reported the driver of the red sedan was heading southbound on 5th Avenue prior to the collision with the Metro Bus traveling eastbound on Battery Street," read the statement.
The collision caused the Metro Bus to leave the roadway crashing into a building near the intersection.
"A female pedestrian was located outside of the building as the Metro Bus left the roadway and struck the female as it came to a stop. The female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene," read the statement issued by the police.
