A police officer who was assigned to protect polio workers was shot dead in Quetta city of Balochistan on Friday.
Unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire and injured a police head constable appointed for the security of the polio campaign near Eastern Bypass School in Quetta, reported Balochistan Post.
The polio tea, however, remained unhurt.
The cop was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The slain cop was identified as Head Constable Jameel Ahmed.
