Dhaka: A suspected member of banned militant outfit of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) has been arrested by the country's security forces from Dinajpur district on Sunday, media reports said on Tuesday.
Major Sohel Rana Prince, deputy commanding officer of Rab-13, told Dhaka Tribune a team of the elite force conducted the drive and arrested Nurulla, along with a pistol, a magazine, bullets, and some militant books and leaflets.
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) seized a pistol, 3 bullets and jihadi books from possession of the suspect, identified as Nazrul Islam alias Nurulla, 40, son of late Dr Abtab Uddin alias Ata of Khanpur village in the upazila, as per The Daily Star report.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab in Dinajpur made the arrest and seized the items after raiding Khanpur Bazar area in Sadar upazila on Sunday evening, reported the newspaper.
During primary interrogation, the arrestee admitted that he had been raising funds, recruiting members for the outfit and providing training to them, Maj Masud Rana, commanding officer of Rab in Dinajpur told the Bangladesh-based newspaper.
