Israel Defense Forces on Monday said a Hamas commander was killed during a airstrike in Lebanon.
The Hamas commander was identified as Muhammed Shaheen.
Israel accused him of planning attacks from Lebanon.
In an X post, IDF said: "The Head of Hamas’ Operations Department in Lebanon, Muhammed Shaheen, was eliminated in a precise IAF strike in the area of Sidon earlier today."
"Shaheen was eliminated after recently planning terror attacks, directed and funded by Iran, and was a significant source of knowledge, responsible throughout the war for various terror attacks against Israeli civilians," the forces said.
The Hamas leader was killed amid the ongoing fragile ceasefire between Lebanon and the group.
Hamas has a significant presence in Lebanon.
It is allied with Hezbollah group.
