Paris/Ankara (JEN): France has announced a six-month-closure of a mosque in the northwestern city of Allonnes for allegedly defending extremist thoughts, according to Turkish state-run Anadolu News Agency.
Anadolu Agency said the mosque, which has a capacity to host 300 worshipers at a time, has been accused of harbouring 'radical Islam', and the actions for its closure had started since Oct 13 upon the order of French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.

The Turkish news service reported quoting French Interior Minister Darmanin that the country will close seven more mosques and associations suspected of promoting 'radical Islamism' by the end of 2021.
As many as 92 of the 2,500 mosques in France have been closed following 'inspections' while the residence permits of 36,000 foreigners have been canceled in the country since Sept 2020 on the grounds that "these individuals threaten public order", Anadolu Agency said in its report citing the French interior minister.
