Kinshasa: At least 50 people are believed to have died when a goldmine collapsed near Kamituga in Democratic Republic of Congo, reports said.
The incident took place on Friday at around 3 p.m. (local time) following heavy rains.
Mining accidents are common in the country as miners are often ill-equipped to carry out the job.
In October last year, at least 16 people died after a mine caved-in.
In another accident, which took place in June 2019, 43 miners died following a landslide at a copper and cobalt mine.
