Kabul: At least 10 civilians have been taken hostage after Taliban militants attacked Afghanistan's Panjshir province on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Shahr-e-Ghulghula area of Abshar district.
The area is near Nuristan province.
The incident was confirmed by Azmuddin Mirzayee, the head of Panjshir's provincial council, reported local Tolo News.
Abshar governor Mohammad Sahrab Sahrabi said, "The Taliban have taken 10 local people hostage and have transferred them to a mosque.”
Meanwhile, security forces have sieged the mosque and are trying to rescue the hostages.
