Islamabad: Pakistan has hanged Imran Ali, the man convicted for the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl earlier this year.
Ali had violated and later murdered Zainab Ansari in January, dumping her body in a garbage bin. The incident took place in the city of Kasur.
The death had sparked a massive protest across the nation.
The deed also received widespread condemnation.
Amin Ansari, the victim's father, who attended the event, said he was satisfied but added that the hanging should have been televised.
Earlier, a petition seeking the whole sequence be televised was dismissed by the Lahore High Court.
