Hollywood: The tables have truly turned on Asia Argento, a leading figure of the MeToo movement and one of the first women to accuse tainted Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct, as she now herself faces a similar accusation.
According to reports, Argento, 42, assaulted a 17-year-old boy back in 2013 in a California hotel room. She was 37 at that time.
Reporting the incident, The New York Times said that the age of consent in the US state is 18.
Identified as Jimmy Bennett, the accuser played Argento's young son in a 2004 film.
He was quoted as saying by the outlet that the incident left him traumatised, affected his mental health and threatened his career.
Argento also paid her former co-star $380,000, following the encounter.
Lawyers of both the victim and the accused have refrained from making comments.
Meanwhile, a lawyer of Harvey Weinstein came down hard at the actress. The lawyer said that the incident showed "a stunning level of hypocrisy by Asia Argento".
It has also triggered reactions from Argento's colleague and another Weinstein accuser, actress Rose McGowan.
I got to know Asia Argento ten months ago. Our commonality is the shared pain of being assaulted by Harvey Weinstein. My heart is broken. I will continue my work on behalf of victims everywhere.

None of us know the truth of the situation and I’m sure more will be revealed. Be gentle.
