Duchess of Cambridge gives birth to third child, British leaders congratulate

London: A new member joined the Royal family in Britain on Monday when the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a baby boy in a London hospital.

The new baby is the third child of  Kate.

The newborn is fifth in line to the throne.

Kate and her husband Prince William are parents to two children-Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Prince George was born in 2013 while Princess Charlotte took birth in 2015.

The child will be Queen's sixth great-grandchild. 

Kensington Palace said in a tweet, "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news."

The baby, which weighs 8lbs 7oz, was delivered at 1101 hrs.

The pregnancy was announced in October.

British Leaders congratulate Royal couple:

Prime Minister Theresa May wished the family over the good news and tweeted: "My warmest congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby boy. I wish them great happiness for the future."

The Archbishop of Canterbury also wished as he tweeted: " Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the safe delivery of their baby, a brother for Prince George and Princess Charlotte. May God bless them and all of their children with love, happiness and health."

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan tweeted: "On behalf of Londoners, I want to send our warmest congratulations to the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby boy."
