We are offering an exciting position for an experienced Project Manager to join our passionate Zimbabwe team. For this key position, we are looking for a well-grounded and experienced professional with strong interpersonal and management skills and an academic background in medical sciences and/or public health.
Maternal Neonatal Health Project Manager, Masvingo, Zimbabwe (full time)

Silveira, Bikita District, Zimbabwe (with frequent travel throughout the project districts and to the country office in Masvingo, as well as occasional travels to Harare and other sites)

Program Zimbabwe:
SolidarMed is a long term partner of the Ministry of Health and Child Care in Zimbabwe. Based in Masvingo Province (South Zimbabwe), SolidarMed provides support to health service delivery according to Zimbabwe’s National Health Strategy, promoting equitable access to health services. This project aims to improve the Maternal and Neonatal Health status in targeted areas through a combined MNH and Family Planning activity. For this, SolidarMed works with the health authorities in the rural districts of Zaka and Bikita in Masvingo Province, moving into Chiredzi district in the future.
To ensure continuity of our successful and comprehensive program, SolidarMed is looking for a committed professional to undertake the following:
Your tasks and responsibilities:
Manage the implementation and development of the SolidarMed project “Maternal and Neonatal Health”, including new focus on Family Planning (FP)
Support the District Health Directorates in ensuring quality care and scaling up of MNH and Family Planning services, including the piloting of new strategies in collaboration with the local health authorities
Coordinate and lead the SolidarMed MNH project team
Work closely with the other SolidarMed project managers in Zimbabwe (HIV-TB; Non-Communicable Diseases) for effective balancing of resources and interventions
Collaborate and coordinate with partners and relevant stakeholders in MNH and FP
Apply scientific evidence, promote lessons learned, network with research organizations and participate in operational research projects
Development of new 2019+ project phase
Expert use of project cycle management tools (planning, reporting, budget control etc.)
Your profile:
Strong interpersonal, management, organisational, and capacity building skills and experience
A university degree in Health Sciences (Medicine, International Public Health, or similar)
Experience of working in African contexts (alignment to Zimbabwean culture is an advantage) and interest in community engagement
Current knowledge of and experience in MNH / FP service delivery in Sub Saharan Africa
Competent in budgeting and project planning
Interest in eHealth and experience of working with digital (e-learning) platforms
Operational research interest and experience
Open-minded personality, intercultural sensitivity, good communication and networking skills
Hands-on, pro-active but patient personality, able to develop initiatives and proposals
Fluency in English (good writing skills necessary), fluency in indigenous language is an advantage
Willingness to live and work in a rural area of Africa
