Japan: Typhoon Jebi kills at least 9, leaves a trail of destruction

Tokyo: A powerful typhoon, Jebi, has killed at least nine people in Japan, while leaving behind a trail of destruction, reports said on Wednesday.

Reports said that the typhoon, which made landfall on Tuesday, packed winds strong enough to flip cars. It hit major Japanese cities like Kyoto and Osaka. 

The events forced the ceasure of flights, trains and ferry operations, leaving thousands stranded at Osaka's international airport. However, they have been evacuated since.

Around 800 flights, including international flights, were cancelled.

The calamity damaged several buildings and brought down electric cables, causing power outages in more than two million homes.
