Beijing: China's attempt to control activists and their free voices became evident once again when Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong was arrested Thursday over an alleged violation of the city's national security law.
A tweet from Joshua's official Twitter page read: "oshua was further arrested under NSL today. WITHOUT legal representative this morning, he was taken to Laichikok Reception center to take statement. It is not known yet when and where this investigation will lead him to. Joshua has now returned to ShekPik Prison. (Apple Daily)."

Wong was already in prison, serving a 13.5-month sentence for his role in demonstrations during the 2019 pro-democracy protest movement, reports CNN.
Police confirmed Wong's arrest to CNN, as well as the arrest of a second activist, 47-year-old Tam Tak-chi, on Thursday.
The two had been arrested for "subverting state power," police told the American news channel.
