Kabul: Saving several lives, the Afghan police forces have thwarted anti-government armed militants bid to detonate a mosque in western Herat province of the war-torn country, media reports said on Monday.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Monday that the militants were looking to detonate two improvised explosive devices inside a mosque in Adraskan district but the National Police forces discovered and defused the explosives with the support of local residents, reported Khaama Press.
The Afghanistan-based news agency reported quoting the statement issued by the Ministry: "The criminal terrorists do not even respect holy places as part of their activities against Islam and humanity.”
No terrorist group has commented on the matter so far.
