Kabul, Aug 21 (JEN): Heavy clashes between the Afghan military and militants in Jowzjan province are underway, local Khaama Press reported.
The clashes are taking place are taking place in Khamab district of the province.
The agency have quoted unconfirmed sources as saying that the militants have taken control over certain government compounds.
However, government officials have discarded the report.
The clashes started at around 5 am, spokesman for the Afghan army in the North, Nasratullah Jameshedi, was quoted in the media as saying.
He added that additional forces have been deployed along with coordinated airstrikes on Taliban pockets.
