Arlington, Texas (JEN): At least four people were injured in a shooting at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas on Wednesday morning, police said.
The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Timothy George Simpkins, who was on the run and had been considered to be "armed and dangerous", has been taken into custody "without incident", Arlington Police's Assistant Chief Kevin Kolbye told a press conference.

An hour ago, police had sought help from the locals in tracing the suspect as he remained at large.

Local police said the suspect has been charged with "multiple counts of Aggravated Assault with a gun", while Grand Prairie Police Department chief Daniel Scesney told the media that officers had recovered a .45 caliber handgun from a street following the Timberview High School shooting that left four people injured.

The senior cop also said it could not be confirmed at this moment whether it was the weapon used in the school shooting until it undergoes further testing.

Arlington police confirmed the shooting at Timberview High School in Mansfield Independent School District started as a fight between a student and another individual around 9:15 am. local time on Wednesday, and one student then drew a weapon.

Local authorities said that three of the four injured people had been shifted to a hospital while another person was minorly hurt.

According to reports, after carrying out a search operation at the scene, police have given an "all clear" at Timberview High School.

Local media reported that the evacuation process had been completed at Timberview High School.

Following the incident, Texas Governor Greg Abbott in a statement said he had spoken with Arlington Mayor and offered assistance, and directed the Texas Department of Public Safety to make state resources available to help bring the criminal to justice.

Mansfield Independent School district, in its statement, confirmed Mansfield ISD police, Arlington police and other neighboring law enforcement agencies have initiated investigation into the shooting incident.

Mansfield ISD's statement read that the internet and phone services were back up and running at the affected campus area.
