Islamabad: Pakistan PM Imran Khan has warned that the number of COVID-19 cases in his nation might increase by middle of May.
He said his government is concerned over the impact the disease will have on the poor people of the country.
Addressing a video conference session with his ministers to update the masses about the coronavirus situation, PM Imran Khan, who formed the government in the country after registering a massive victory in the general polls in 2018, said his government was preparing to deal with the increasing number of cases but warned that it would put pressure on hospitals.
He even urged his critics to not politicise the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I would like to request everyone to stop playing politics on this issue. This has been happening since the past two to three weeks," he was quoted as saying by Geo News.
"There is a group that wants more damage to happen in the country so that they can benefit politically from this," he said.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Pakistan now stands at 8212.
The country has registered 167 deaths so far.
