Sony’s new BRAVIA 7II TV promises cinema-level picture at home Bravia

Sony India has announced the launch of its BRAVIA 7II television series, introducing True RGB technology powered by RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro to enhance home entertainment with richer colours, deeper contrast and improved visual realism.

Pre-bookings for select BRAVIA 7II models began on Tuesday.

Positioned as a next-generation premium TV lineup, the BRAVIA 7II combines Sony’s display innovations with its Cognitive Processor XR to deliver what the company describes as cinema-grade picture quality for home viewing.

At the core of the new range is True RGB technology, which independently controls red, green and blue LEDs to deliver higher colour precision, improved contrast and enhanced brightness control.

Sony said the technology, combined with its Cognitive Processor XR, is designed to reproduce images and sound in a more natural, human-like way, offering improved depth, detail and colour accuracy.

Key display technologies

The BRAVIA 7II series features several advanced imaging technologies, including RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro for precise local dimming and reduced blooming, and RGB Triluminos Max with Luminance Booster, which combines enhanced colour volume with higher brightness levels.

The TV also includes Smooth Colour Gradation for improved tonal transitions, while X-Wide Angle Pro (available on select models) maintains consistent colour and contrast across wider viewing angles.

The lineup begins with a 55-inch model and extends up to 65-inch, 75-inch, 85-inch, and a 98-inch variant expected in June 2026.

Processor and picture performance

Powered by Sony’s Cognitive Processor XR, the BRAVIA 7II dynamically adjusts contrast, depth and clarity in real time.

Features such as XR Contrast Booster enhance brightness and shadow detail, while XR Clear Image upscales lower-resolution content closer to 4K quality. XR Motion Clarity ensures smoother visuals for fast-moving content such as sports and gaming.

Audio and cinematic experience

The BRAVIA 7II supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG and IMAX Enhanced formats. Studio calibrated modes for Netflix, Prime Video and Sony Pictures Core automatically adjust picture settings to match content creators’ intent.

On the audio front, Acoustic Multi-Audio+ (on 65-inch and above models) and Voice Zoom 3 with AI Sound Separation enhance dialogue clarity and spatial sound accuracy. The TVs also support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for immersive surround sound.

Gaming and smart features

The TV supports 4K 120fps gaming via HDMI 2.1, along with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for smoother gameplay.

Gaming-focused features include Game Menu 2, Dolby Vision gaming support, and optimisations for PlayStation 5, including Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode.

Running on Google TV, the BRAVIA 7II offers access to more than 400,000 movies and shows, along with built-in Google Assistant, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast and Alexa compatibility.

Sony also confirmed that Gemini for Google TV will be introduced via an over-the-air update, enabling AI-powered content discovery and recommendations.

Design, durability and availability

The BRAVIA 7II series is designed under Sony’s Harmonic Presence concept and includes features such as the Mirage Stand on select models and a T-shape stand for the 98-inch variant.

The TVs include X-Protection PRO for resistance against dust, humidity, lightning and power surges, along with Eco Dashboard 2 for energy monitoring.

The series will be available at Sony Centres, Sony Exclusive stores, major electronics retailers, and online platforms including ShopatSC.com from May 28, 2026. Pre-bookings for select models have already begun.
