Brexit issue: MPs' vote on deal ruled out by Speaker

London: The British House of Commons Speaker on Monday refused the Boris Johnson-led government's request to hold a "yes" or "no" vote on the Brexit deal.

John Bercow said a motion on the deal had been brought before MPs on Saturday and it would be "repetitive and disorderly" to debate it again. BBC reported.

The prime minister's official spokesman was quoted as saying by BBC: "The Speaker has yet again denied us a chance to deliver on the will of British people."

The UK is now due to leave the European Union by the next 10 days.

During the sitting of the Parliament on Saturday, MPs had voted to withhold approval of Boris Johnson's deal until it has been passed into law.

According to news agency Sputnik, Boris Johnson on Saturday told the UK parliament that the European Union is reluctant to delay Brexit any longer.

"I must tell the House in all candour that there is very little appetite among our friends in the EU for this business to be protracted by one extra day," Johnson said during the parliament sitting on Saturday morning ahead of the vote on his Brexit deal.
