Nguyen Thi Thanh Loan's face goes flat when she recalls her childhood in rural Vietnam: she had just enough food to eat, rarely got new clothes and lived on a plot of land where her parents grew their own vegetables. She lights up when describing the luxuries available to her two kids today -- imported milk, Coca Cola, modern toys, family beach holidays -- all paid for by her job at a Ford plant where cars are assembled from Chinese, Thai, American and European parts. more
