Fidel Castro was born in a wealthy ranch, in the Cuban south-eastern countryside, where he liked to shoot his gun and swim in the nearby river, until he left everything behind to lead the Cuban Revolution. His half-brother and a childhood friend recall times when Fidel was still a boy and not the divisive communist leader he later became.
