Los Angeles: Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman, who is best known for his performance in X-Men film series, has shared with his fans that he is undergoing more skin cancer tests after a recent medical check-up.
The Australian actor shared a video on Instagram where he could be seen wearing a bandage on his nose and adviced his fans to follow sun safety measures.
He said he is expected to receive test results in the upcoming days.
Jackman said he underwent the tests after his doctor spotted irregularities that “could be or could not be basal cell [carcinoma].”
He shared the video on Instagram with the caption that read: "I know you’ve heard me talk about my basal cell carcinomas before. I’m going to keep talking about them, if need be. And if it reminds even one person to put on sunscreen with a high SPF, then I’m happy."
Jackman has received treatment for basal cell carcinoma several times, and in 2013, revealed he had a cancerous growth removed from his nose, reports CNN.
“Just to remind you, basal cell, in the world of skin cancers, is the least dangerous of them all,” he was quoted as saying in the video.
As per Mayo Clinic website, Basal cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer.
"Basal cell carcinoma begins in the basal cells — a type of cell within the skin that produces new skin cells as old ones die off," reads Mayo Clinic website.
"Basal cell carcinoma often appears as a slightly transparent bump on the skin, though it can take other forms. Basal cell carcinoma occurs most often on areas of the skin that are exposed to the sun, such as your head and neck," reads the website.
