Islamabad: A Pakistani court has ordered a judicial probe into the death of Hindu medical student in the country's Sindh province, media reports said.
Hindu girl Nimrita Chandani, who was a BDS final year student at Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC), was found dead in her hostel room in the country.
The judge had sought permission following a letter written to him by the Sindh government, seeking a judicial probe into the matter, reported Dawn News.
Larkana Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Irfan Ali Baloch confirmed the development to Dawn News.
The officer said that Larkana SSP Masood Bangash and he held a meeting today with the judge.
"It was decided that the judge will start the process of judicial inquiry on Friday,” he told the newspaper.
The DIG said that Bangash would share his findings in the case with the judge and submit relevant reports involving students and other aspects during the inquiry proceedings, reported the newspaper.
He said the judge will visit the hostel room.
The body has been recovered from the hostel.
He further told Dawn News that forensic reports of cell phones and laptops taken into custody by police would also be shared with the judge.
While the police and authorities labelled her death as a case of suicide, her family has asserted that she was murdered. Her brother, Vishal, who is a medical consultant, declared that preliminary checkup indicated that she was murdered, reported Indian news channel Times Now.
