Jalalabad, Afghanistan (Xinhua/UNI) Afghan security forces have seized 40 rockets and arrested three suspected militants in eastern province of Nangarhar, a military source said on Wednesday.
"Afghan Border Force personnel arrested three militants, who were carrying 40 rounds of small-range rockets in a mini truck, in Muhmand Dara district on Tuesday evening," Gen. Auob Houssainkhil, a senior border force official, told reporters here.
The security forces also confiscated the vehicle and handed over the arrestees to the related department.
The identity and linkages of the arrested militants are being investigated, the official added.
The latest seizure came as Afghan security forces have beefed up security across the country ahead of Nowroz Festival celebration, falling on Thursday which marks the Afghan New Year.
On Tuesday, one civilian was killed and six civilians were wounded after an improvised explosive device (IED) attached to a tricycle parked at the side of a road was detonated in Herat city, capital of western province of Herat.
