Jerusalem: A pregnant woman and her 18-month-old daughter were among the three people killed in a retaliatory fire by Israeli soldiers on the Gaza border.
Confirming the news, Gaza's Health Ministry said that the strikes were launched on Wednesday by Israel, after the latter was subjected to attack from Hamas.
According to Israel Defence Force (IDF), approximately 150 rockets were fired from Gaza to Israel.
The Hamas rocket attacks injured several Israeli people.
The deceased woman has been identified by the ministry as 23-year-old Enas Khammash.
Her husband was reportedly injured.
The other deceased has been identified as a Hamas militant. At least 12 people sustained injuries from Israeli airstrikes.
The IDF said that at least 20 Hamas sites were targeted by its army. It further said that the fires were retaliatory in nature.
"A short while ago, IDF aircraft fired towards a rocket launching squad in Gaza after it launched a rocket at Israel.
"Tonight, IDF fighter jets targeted over 20 terror sites in military compounds &in a Hamas training camp. Among the sites targeted were a weapons manufacturing &storage facility, a complex used for the Hamas' naval force, & a military compound used for rocket launching experiments," IDF tweeted.
