A search party of the Army, which was operating in the area of Warson, 5 kms from Trehgam town, detected three IEDs hidden in the hollow trunk of a tree, along with other war like stores in the fringes of Gazrial forest near Khazan Mati of Kupwara North Kashmir, Army officials said on Sunday.
Officials said that based on the specific intelligence inputs received from a unit source, the troops of an Army Unit carried out a search operation in the forested area on Khazan Mati Ridge close to Gazrial village.
The search resulted in the recovery of three IEDs, two weighing 5 Kgs and one weighing 1 Kg approximately along with 3 Mortar Bombs, 3 UBGL grenades, 61 rounds of AK 47 and one Chinese Pistol with magazine.
A major tragedy was thus averted by the recovery and destruction of these IEDs and the ill designs of the terrorists who intended to cause violence were thwarted once again by the alert troops of the Army.
