Piacenti was fatally stabbed near the “Crossroads of the World” on Monday afternoon. The suspect, who allegedly attacked two people, was later shot dead by police.

Piacenti was employed by Bank of America in New York City as Vice President of Business Selection and Conflicts, sources told the New York Post.

Who was Erin Piacenti?

Piacenti, 32, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and earned a law degree from Fordham Law School in 2021.

According to media reports, she had recently celebrated her second wedding anniversary on August 10.

Piacenti was stabbed in the abdomen during what police described as an “unprovoked attack” near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue at around 4:30 p.m.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch provided details of the incident during a press conference following the attack, as quoted by the New York Post.

What happened at Times Square?

New York Police Department officers shot and killed a woman who allegedly stabbed two people at Times Square, according to media reports.

Investigators said the woman was threatening people with two knives near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue at around 4:26 p.m. before allegedly stabbing the two victims.

She then fled north toward an NYPD substation in Times Square, where officers confronted her, police said.

According to authorities, the woman refused repeated instructions to drop the knives. Officers opened fire at around 4:27 p.m., striking her.

The NYPD later released images of the two knives recovered from the scene.

During a press conference, Commissioner Tisch said the suspect had also threatened the officers during the confrontation.

“During the encounter, she told the officers, ‘I'm not dropping anything. I would rather kill both of you.’ She repeated, ‘I will kill you,’” Tisch was quoted as saying by ABC 7.

The suspect was later identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros of Queens. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The second stabbing victim was injured in the attack, while police continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
