At least two police officers died, and another one was injured after a suspect opened fire in Tremonton, Utah, US on Sunday.
The suspect has been taken into custody.
Two Tremonton Garland Police officers and a deputy from the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office responded around 9:30 p.m. to multiple 911 hang-up calls at a residence near North Park Elementary School, the Brigham City Police Department said in a news release on Monday morning as quoted by Fox News.
The police officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call when the shooting occurred.
The armed man reportedly shot dead a cop when one Tremonton Garland police officer was speaking to an individual at the residence.
The second officer was killed when he rushed to help his colleague.
The Box Elder County deputy and his police service dog were shot inside the deputy's vehicle as it arrived at the scene, authorities told Fox News.
The deputy is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Bystanders had convinced the suspect to put down his firearm, authorities said.
The additional responding officers then took him into custody.
The identity of the suspect has not been revealed so far.
The Box Elder County Sheriff's Office mourned the death of his collaegues in the incident and wrote on Facebook: " The hearts of everyone at the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office are heavy with sorrow. We are mourning the tragic and profound loss of two brave Tremonton-Garland colleagues, friends, and brothers who lost their lives in the line of duty last night."
"Our deputy and his K9 partner were also wounded by gunfire in the incident. We are eternally grateful to report that their injuries are not life-threatening and they are expected to make a full recovery," the statement said.
