Pakistani authorities have seized 13 illegally kept lions and arrested five individuals for violating wildlife regulations.
The step was taken just days after a lion escaped from a farmhouse and injured a woman and a child.
The Pakistani government launched a crackdown against illegal wildlife on Thursday.
According to official updates, inspections were carried out at 22 locations on Saturday as part of the enforcement drive, reported Dunya News.
Punjab’s Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb told the news portal, "There will be no compromise on public security,” she said, urging citizens to report any illegal possession of lions by calling the helpline 1107."

Lahore recently witnessed a distressing event when a lion attacked a family and left two children and a woman injured.
The injured people were rushed to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment.
The condition of the two children is said to be critical.

The police told Ary News that the lion escaped due to an unsecured enclosure at the farmhouse, leading to the unexpected attack on those present.
The lion was kept in the farmhouse by a person named Malik Azam Murtaza. He did not have licence to keep the lion.
The police are taking steps to arrest the owner.
