Russia has launched missiles and drones on Ukrainian cities of Kyiv and Odesa, leaving at least one person dead on Tuesday, media reports said.
Explosions were heard across the capital as air defense systems engaged the targets, reported The Kyiv Independent.
Local authorities told the newspaper that four people were injured in Kyiv.
According to reports, a maternity hospital was damaged due to the attack in Odesa.
No patients or staff were injured at the facility, and were evacuated, local authorities told the newspaper.
At least one person died and four others were injured in the city.
"A residential building is on fire in the Shevchenkivskyi district. A woman is injured and is being treated," Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, told Kyiv Independent.
A glimmer of hope for peace in Ukraine has been overshadowed by a devastating new wave of Russian attacks, UN officials told the Security Council late last month, warning of soaring civilian casualties and a worsening humanitarian crisis that could derail a diplomatic end to the war.
“The longer the war continues, the longer its regional and global impacts will be felt, and the more difficult it will be to find a peaceful resolution,” said Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.
