Kabul, Aug 5 (JEN): Following a 10-day Army-Taliban face-off, the Afghan government has confirmed that it has managed to recapture Jani Khel district of Paktia province from the clutches of militias, local Khaama Press reported.
The provincial governor’s spokesman Abdullah Hasrat confirmed the news on Friday and said that at least 140 insurgents were killed.
Hasrat added that over 120 militias suffered injuries, 20 of whom were Pakistanis.
Stating the figures, he said that 13 army men lost their lives, while 17 others were injured in the clashes.
The Taliban is yet to issue a statement on the reports.
