A 60-year-old woman in Argentina has shattered stereotypes to win the Miss Universe Buenos Aires title.
Lawyer and journalist Alejandra Rodríguez has become the first 60-year-old woman in beauty pageant history to win the title.
Her crowning broke norms which state younger women generally win such titles.
“I am thrilled to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are inaugurating a new stage in which women are not only physical beauty but another set of values,” Alejandra Rodríguez was quoted as saying by The Independent.
“I am the first of this generation to start with this," she said.
“I think the judges saw my confidence and my passion to represent the women of my generation,” she said.
She said she is determined to contest for the Miss Universe Argentina crown.
Previously, the Miss Universe pageant only allowed contestants to be between 18 to 28 years of age to compete for the crown.
Miss Universe Organization lat year announced age limits will not be there for contestants from 2024.
Now, a woman who is aged above 18 are allowed to participate in the contest.
