Washington: Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said that a grand jury issued an arrest warrant against the 19 defendants named in a 41-count indictment, including former President Donald Trump, in an election interference case.

However, they will all have an opportunity to voluntarily surrender by August 25.

"Subsequent to the indictment, as is the normal process in Georgia law, the grand jury issued arrest warrants for those who are charged. I am giving the defendants the opportunity to voluntarily surrender, no later than noon on Friday, the 25th day of August, 2023," Willis said late Monday night.

Willis said she will ask the court to set the trial date within the next six months.

Trump faces 13 criminal charges related to allegedly attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia, including violation of the Georgia RICO Act, solicitation of violation of oat by public officer, false statements and writings, forgery, among others.

The Georgia racketeering scheme charge alone carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

The person could also face a fine of up to $250,000 or double the amount of proceeds earned from illicit activity, according to the statute.
