Newport News: Police have detained a six-year-old boy for shooting a teacher in the US state of Virginia, officials said on Saturday.

The incident happened in Richneck Elementary School in Newport News on Friday.
"The teacher’s injuries are believed to be life-threatening. The investigation remains ongoing," police said in a statement.
No students were injured in this incident.
