Mogadishu: Somali National Army (SNA) said Thursday its forces killed 17 al-Shabab militants during the ongoing military operations in central Somalia.
The SNA Radio reported that the troops who have intensified operations against the extremist group also liberated El-Halelay, Qasaalay, Nurfanax, and Buur Gabo in Halgan district in the central Hiran region of Somalia after two-day operations.
The SNA which has intensified security operations across the country since early this year has vowed to sustain the onslaught against the militant group until their fighters are subdued.
However, the al-Shabab group, which still controls some parts of rural southern and central Somalia, continues to carry out high-profile attacks across Somalia.
