Kabul: At least nine Taliban militants, including the deputy of military commission for Helmand Province, were killed in an airstrike carried out by Afghanistan's Air Force on Friday.
The raid was conducted in Nawa district.
The report was confirmed by the Defence Ministry on Saturday.
The slain militant deputy head was identified as Mullah Amanullah.

"Mullah Amanullah, deputy of the Taliban’s military commission for Helmand Prov. was killed with 8 of his fighters, yesterday in an airstrike. #AAF targeted them in Nawa district. A large amount of their weapons and ammunitions were also destroyed," a tweet from the ministry read.
The Ministry said in a separate attack in Dahrawod district of Uruzgan province, at least 14 Taliban militants were killed and nine others were injured, while three strongholds were destroyed during the air raid.

The Taliban is yet to comment on the reports.
