London: Controlled explosion of a suspicious package was carried out by the police at the Manchester Airport transport interchange on Monday.
"Bomb disposal officers are at #ManchesterAirport transport interchange to assist GMP with enquiries," Greater Manchester Police tweeted. "As part of their assessment to ensure the package is safe, a controlled explosion took place," it said.

The cordon will remain in place as a precautionary measure as enquiries continue.

Manchester Airport train station was evacuated by officials.
According to British media reports, one person has been detained so far.
All trains, trams and buses are currently suspended to and from the station, reported BBC.
