Kabul: At least three people have been killed as a suicide bomber detonated his explosive near a crowd celebrating New Year in Afghanistan's capital city Kabul, local Pajhok Afghan News reported.
The incident took place close to Ali Abad Hospital and Kabul University on Wednesday at around noon.
The agency further stated that at least nine people were injured.
Tolo News quoted eyewitnesses as saying that all the casualties were civilians.
According to police, the attacker used a car bomb.
Security forces have cordoned off the area.
