Salary

$85,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Location

You may work from our office in Washington DC, from home, or on a hybrid arrangement to suit you. Please note you will be required to attend the office occasionally for team meetings.

Hours

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.

The role

The Senior Research Analyst will oversee digital research on online harm related to elections, public officials, and democratic institutions, tracking activities from over 600 hate and extremism groups. They will conduct and supervise ethnographic monitoring, draft reports, and provide strategic communications advice to officials based on ISD’s insights.

Key responsibilities include:

• 40% of your time will be focused on research and analysis: conducting and overseeing ethnographic monitoring, supporting the creation of analytical outputs and developing methodologies for both quantitative and qualitative research.
• 30% of your time will be focused on project management and delivery.
• You will also participate in day-to-day engagement with key stakeholders from state elected and public officials, civil society, and others in projects working to mitigate political violence and disinformation threats, including the escalation of specific information threats identified through ongoing ethnographic monitoring.

Job requirements

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should have at least 7 years professional experience in research or data analysis, particularly in campaigns or politics. They must excel in understanding US hate and extremist dynamics, possess deep knowledge of US politics and communications, and demonstrate expertise in analyzing online disinformation and extremism. Additionally, they should have strong project management skills, experience in digital policy proposals, and proven resilience in managing extremist content, including line management experience.
