BACKGROUND:

Global Support and Development (GSD) is a humanitarian organization whose mission is to rapidly respond to disasters in collaboration with at-risk communities and support them to prepare for future disasters. We value collaboration and seek opportunities to amplify the work of others in-country, both in preparation for and in response to disasters. By integrating our team’s diverse skill sets and resources into local responses, we are able to provide rapid response assistance to affected communities in coordination with regional and country-level partners. We also work to build local capacity through community-led preparedness initiatives. GSD’s priority Area of Engagement is currently Latin America and the Caribbean, with targeted support to the South Pacific (and expected future increase in operations for 2024 and beyond).

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Information Manager (IM) is responsible for overseeing the creation of information products of benefit to GSD and partners before, during, and after emergencies. The IM ensures information gathering and analysis are completed with the highest degree of accuracy and quality, reflecting our commitment to be locally led and amplify community voices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Develop, implement, and execute plans, processes, and projects in support of departmental strategy, maximizing efficient use of resources and ensuring shared vision;
2. Support the professional development and growth of direct reports;
3. Support critical decision-making processes, including identifying issues and driving problem-solving, especially in resource-constrained and time-sensitive contexts;
4. Oversee collection and consolidation of data from various partners and staff; support presentation of operational information for further analysis;
5. Ensure timely preparation and generation of information products; support dissemination through platforms, email, and other methods to relevant staff and partners;
6. Oversee program-related information management systems to support data collection, analysis, and use;
7. Manage two-way feedback mechanisms and accountability standards supporting affected populations to ensure accessibility, inclusivity, and fit for purpose;
8. Prompt and action GSD’s core values of accountability, humility, and integrity in all work we conduct;
9. Promote good stewardship of financial and other resources to achieve maximum benefit to those impacted by disaster or at risk of impact; and
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Experience:

• Five (5) or more years of relevant management experience in data analysis and information management, preferably in the humanitarian sector;
• Three (3) or more years experience operating in data analysis and information management, preferably in an international context; and
• Proven experience developing programs and teams.

Required Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in data science or relevant field; or
• Equivalent experience and training.

Professional Licenses/Certifications:

• Certified Analytics Professional or similar desired; and
• Certification in project management desired.

Knowledge/Skills:

• Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to produce quality results within challenging timeframes and ongoing change;
• Program oversight and management, development of programmatic policy, procedure, and guidelines;
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously under pressure;
• Confident and effective written and verbal communication, to include presentation ability;
• Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and information management in the humanitarian context;
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to rapidly shift tasks;
• Experience working and/or traveling domestically and internationally; and
• Working knowledge of Spanish and/or French desired.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• At this time, GSD is not offering sponsorship and is only accepting applications from persons eligible to work in the United States;
• GSD permits U.S.-based remote work on a limited basis; and
• Routine domestic and international travel up to 30% is required.
