The rescued man was identified as Luhaitao.

According to local media reports, Luhaitao was found around 225 metres inside the tunnel by a joint rescue team comprising Nepali Army personnel and foreign rescuers.

The team brought him out of the tunnel alive, Nepali Army spokesperson Rajaram Basnet told The Kathmandu Post.

The rescue operation was underway at the Upper Trishuli-1 project, where several other people are believed to remain trapped beneath the debris.

The Nepali Army also shared videos and photographs of the rescued man on X.

Nepal Continues Search For Missing People

Nepal remains engaged in a large-scale search and rescue operation more than a week after the devastating floods.

On August 26, a massive flow of ice, rocks and mud entered the region's river systems, triggering severe flooding that swept through settlements and destroyed homes, roads, bridges and hydropower infrastructure.

The disaster affected communities in the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts before floodwaters and debris moved downstream.

More than 1,000 people were killed and scores of others remain missing following the disaster, making it one of the deadliest natural calamities reported in Nepal in recent years.

Meanwhile, to assist with the identification of missing people, India's Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to make the services of Central Forensic Science Laboratories (CFSLs), State Forensic Science Laboratories (SFSLs) and National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) laboratories available for DNA profiling.

The facilities will be used to conduct DNA profiling of first-degree biological relatives of people who remain missing following the flash floods in Nepal.
