Environment/Science Thailand: Whale dies after consuming 80 plastic bags

Bangkok: A whale which reportedly washed ashore in Southern Thailand, died after consuming 17 lbs of plastic bags, reports said.
Doctors removed 80 plastic bags from the mammal's stomach during an autopsy, said Jatuporn Burutpat, Director-General to Thailand's Department of Marine and Coastal Resources.
According to CNN, the whale was spotted by locals on May 28.
Witnesses said that it looked ill and was floating abnormally.
After struggling for a couple of days, the whale, which received attention from volunteers, died on Jun 1.
