US President Donald Trump on Sunday said Ukraine and Russia have reached an energy ceasefire which has come into force immediately.
He wrote on Truth Social: "Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine. Both parties have agreed. Do not break it! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP."
Russia did not comment on Trump's announcement so far.
Today, there was a statement from the President of the United States that an energy ceasefire has been secured. This is good news for everyone – and it is important that it become reality. Unfortunately, Ukrainian skies have been infested with Russian “shaheds” all day today. There have been glide bomb strikes and strikes on our energy infrastructure too. A power plant in Kharkiv was attacked this evening. Overall, this past week alone, the Russians have carried out more than 200 strikes on our electricity generation and transmission facilities in Ukraine, and another 17 strikes this week targeted gas and oil facilities. They have killed more than 150 of our people, and more than 700 people have been wounded. Ukraine has proposed many de-escalatory steps. Putin had one answer to all of them – “nyet.” We do hope that he will finally say something to America, Ukraine, and the entire world that will lead to a real and dignified peace. Ukraine wants peace. The question is whether Russia does. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have received all the appropriate orders. We are awaiting clear details of the dialogue between America and Russia – and we expect Putin to follow through on what President Trump said.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, however, reacted to the announcement and expressed his opinion on X.
He wrote on X: "Today, there was a statement from the President of the United States that an energy ceasefire has been secured. This is good news for everyone – and it is important that it become reality."
Trump on Saturday said he believed it was time for Ukraine to get a new president, responding to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's criticism of a US deal involving Russian diesel supplies.
Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump accused Zelenskyy of wanting to “make problems for the world” by continuing to authorise attacks on Russian oil refineries, the BBC reported.
“He'd better damn well stop,” Trump said, before suggesting that Ukraine should “get a new leader who can make a deal”.
Trump's remarks came amid escalating attacks between Russia and Ukraine, as tensions mounted over the reported easing of restrictions on Russian energy exports.
Trump announces Russian diesel supply deal
Meanwhile, Trump announced an arrangement involving the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the United States and the global market.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he had held a discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin and that an agreement had been reached for Russia to supply more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel fuel immediately, followed by another 500,000 tonnes in November and a further one million tonnes thereafter.
“I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter,” Trump wrote.
