Uzbekistan: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev re-elected for seven-year term in snap election

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was re-elected with 87.05 percent of the vote in his favour on Sunday, the country’s Central Election Commission announced Monday citing preliminary results.

More than 15 million voters participated in the election, which comprises 79 percent of the voters.

According to the CEC statement, the candidate from the Liberal Democratic Party, the current President of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev won 87.05 percent of the vote.

He is followed by candidates from the Social Democratic Party "Adolat" Robakhon Makhmudov with 4.43 percent, from the People's Democratic Party Ulugbek Inoyatov - 4.02 percent, and from the Ecological Party Abdushukur Khamzaev - 3.74 percent.

Leaders of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Hungary, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and a number of other states have already congratulated the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his convincing victory in the elections.
