Zhengzhou: Chinese authorities have imposed a lockdown in Zhengzhou district, a region that houses the world's largest iPhone factory, to combat Covid-19 spread, media reports said.

The lockdown started on Wednesday and is set to last for seven days, reports BBC.

The move is likely to impact the production of the iPhone 14.

The phone is produced at Foxconn's plant in the city.

Chinese people and businesses are continuing to grapple with President Xi Jinping's rigid zero-Covid policy, reports BBC.

On Wednesday, local authorities said the lockdown of the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone would start immediately and end at midday local time on November 9, the British media reported.

The public transport system has been suspended in the city and even people have been directed to work from home.

Zhengzhou is home to about 10 million people.

The region also reported 167 locally transmitted infections.
