Kabul: Over 60 girl students have graduated from a professional centre in Afghanistan capital Kabul city, media reports said on Sunday.

Many young women turned to learning craft skills after the girls’ schools above grade six were closed, reports Tolo News.

The students, meanwhile, called on the Taliban government to reopen the schools for female students in grade 7-12.

“The Islamic Emirate closed schools for the girls. We call on the Islamic Emirate to reopen the schools as soon as possible,” Najiba, a student, told a news portal.

“We want our rights (education) under any kind of situation. We want to graduate from school or university as we did today,” Aisha, a student, told Tolo News.

The Taliban imposed several restrictions since coming to power in the country.
