14 killed, two injured in bomb attack on Damascus army bus: Syrian state media

Damascus, Syria (JEN): A bomb attack on an army bus at the President Bridge in the Syrian capital of Damascus has killed at least 14 people and wounded two others on Wednesday morning, according to the country's state-controlled media.

Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported two explosives previously attached to a military bus went off at about 6:45 am. local time (03:45 GMT) when the vehicle was passing near Jisr al-Rais in central Damascus.

 
Local authorities confirmed that 14 people had died and two more had been injured in the bomb attack.

SANA reported quoting army sources that the military engineering personnel had dismantled a third explosive device which had fallen off the bus after the blast.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing on the bus.

Syria's Interior Minister Mohammad al-Rahmoun said the terrorist attack on the military bus in Damascus “came after eliminating terrorism from most of the Syrian territory."

The interior minister said those who had plotted the "cowardly attack" wanted to inflict harm on the largest possible number of citizens.

In a statement to the national al-Suriya television Channel, minister Mohammad al-Rahmoun said those who were behind the attack will be pursued.
