Japan: Zookeeper mauled to death by rare white tiger

Tokyo: A rare white tiger killed a zookeeper in its enclosure in a zoo in Japan, reports said.

The incident took place on late on Monday at the Hirakawa Zoological Park in Kagoshima.

The deceased has been identified as a 40-year-old man, who was rushed to a hospital after officials spotted him inside the tiger's cage, bleeding from his neck.

Upon his arrival at the facility, doctors pronounced him dead.

The beast was later tranqualised.

An investigation into how white tigers are kept and treated in the zoo, have been initiated by the police.
