Sharing details on X, Zelenskyy said Russian forces had also carried out a drone strike on a warehouse used by McDonald’s.

“There were also drone strikes today on a warehouse used by McDonald’s. An attack drone – against ordinary food products,” Zelenskyy wrote.

“The Russians are constantly expanding their escalation operation: American and other businesses, data centres, internet providers – for Russia, ordinary life in and of itself is simply a target,” he added.

Zelenskyy said the attacks were undermining people’s ability to remain connected, study and work.

He also said at least four people had been killed in a Russian drone strike on an office building in Kyiv.

“My condolences to their families and loved ones… Seven more people were injured, including a child. I thank all of our emergency services, which always respond quickly to help people after Russian attacks,” Zelenskyy said.

UN human rights monitors said on Thursday that Russian armed forces had carried out repeated attacks across Ukraine over the past several days, killing and injuring civilians and damaging homes, hospitals, shops and workplaces.

The attacks have involved ballistic and cruise missiles, drones and guided aerial bombs. Between September 1 and 24, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission recorded at least 200 civilians killed and 1,234 injured, with the figures expected to rise as verification continues.

Kyiv recorded civilian casualties on 16 of the first 24 days of September, the highest monthly frequency since Russia’s full-scale invasion began.
